URI community holds vigil for Orlando victims

Rainbow flags rippled in the wind Monday as a sign of solidarity with those impacted by the Orlando shootings.

A vigil held on the quad of the University of Rhode Island drew about 200 students and staff.

“I think the most important thing to take away is that we have a lot of work to do, that marriage equality was one thing, but it certainly wasn’t anywhere close to the end of our struggle or fight,” said Annie Russell, the director of URI’s Gender and Sexuality Center.
