R.I. Economy: 3900 jobs lost in last two months

Other data in the monthly report was also negative: The number of unemployed residents rose by 100; the number of employed residents declined by 400; and the size of the state’s labor force declined by 300.

Those are “disappointing” numbers, said University of Rhode Island economics Prof. Leonard Lardaro, whose monthly Current Conditions Index, released Monday, led him to conclude the state’s economy has been weakening since August.
