Advocacy

Government relations is the conduit between URI and decision-makers at local, state and federal levels.

Government relations services:

  • Promotes effective communications with municipal, state and federal government officials
  •  Works with University administrators and leaders to develop and support the University’s legislative agenda
  • Monitors and testifies on state legislation that affects the University and higher education policy
  • Monitors and advocates for General Assembly passage of the University’s operating and capital budgets
  • Communicates with state agencies regarding programs and grants that are opportunities for the University
  • Serves as the University’s liaison to the Office of Postsecondary Education, the Council on Postsecondary Education, the Board of Education and the Office of the Governor
