KINGSTON, R.I.–February 25, 2009—The University of Rhode Island’s PR Summit continues with a focus on event planning March 11 at 3 p.m. in the University Club, 95 Upper College Road, Kingston. The talk is free and open to the public.

The speaker is Jennifer Stuart, an event professional with more than 8 years of experience who has produced red carpet press events, concerts, tradeshows, awards shows, and experiential marketing programs in some of America’s largest cities is the speaker.

Her talk “So, You Want to be an Event Planner?” will touch on her event experiences, which have been featured in the media and in such publications as The Hollywood Reporter, HGTV, and Guitar Player Magazine.

Stuart resides in New York where she works as director of event marketing for Move Radio.

“Anytime we can give students the chance to meet and talk with experts, the better prepared they become. Our goal as educators should be to give our students a thorough, practical base of knowledge, but also to do whatever we can to help them establish career relationships,” said Robert Beagle, vice president for University Advancement.

“Event planning is a hot topic among students in selecting a career path upon graduation,” says Regina Bell, director of the Public Relations Program in URI’s Communication Studies Department. “It’s a vibrant avenue that allows students to employ their time management skills, marketing concepts, and writing skills.”
