URI’s Feinstein Providence Campus holding Open House for multimedia certificate program

KINGSTON, R.I. – Nov. 12, 2009 – The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training is funding a multimedia certificate program at the University of Rhode Island’s Feinstein Providence campus.

According to John O’Leary, director for the Office of Special Programs, the Department of Labor and Training approved the multimedia program as a subsidized program for unemployed workers who qualify for retraining benefits. Instructors will be on hand to explain all aspects of the program and answer questions at an open house on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 5 p.m.

The 18-week, 35-session non-credit course will run from mid-January through May, and is designed to enable successful participants to embark on a career in web design, web maintenance, web advertising, and other related occupations. The program is ideal for adults seeking career change or career advancement through enhanced knowledge of growing technology.

“This program is ideal for adults who have been thinking about a career change and are interested in technology,” O’Leary said. “The open house gives people a chance to come in, talk to us and find out what we have to offer. Technology is a door to the future.”
