URI’s College of Business Administration announces five inductees to Hall of Fame

Banquet to be held April 8 in Newport KINGSTON, R.I. — February 14, 2000 — The University of Rhode Island’s College of Business Administration has announced this year’s inductees into its Hall of Fame. The College, which established the Hall of Fame in 1999, will honor five individuals on Saturday, April 8 at 6 p.m. at the Doubletree Islander Hotel, Newport. The new inductees are: Sidney Cohen, of Marina Del Rey, Calf., 1955 URI College of Business Administration graduate; president, MGM Domestic Television Distribution; former vice president, Feature Planning and Sales Development, Paramount Pictures Corp.; member of the College of Business Administration Business Advisory Council. Howard S. Frank, of Key Biscayne, Fla., 1962 URI College of Business Administration graduate; vice chairman and chief operating officer, Carnival Corp.; former partner, Price Waterhouse; member of the College of Business Administration Business Advisory Council. George Graboys, of Providence, R.I., recipient of an honorary doctorate from URI in 1992; former chairman of the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education; former chairman and chief executive officer of Citizens Financial Group, Inc.; past executive in residence, URI College of Business Administration; member of the College of Business Administration Business Advisory Council, Robert E. Ligouri, of Westerly, R.I., 1961 URI College of Business Administration graduate; managing partner, Adler, Pollock & Sheehan, Inc.; former chairman of the Rhode Island Solid Waste Management Corp.; former chairman of Connector Technology Corp.; chair of the College of Business Administration Business Advisory Council. Francesco P. Morsilli, of Naples, Fla., 1953 URI College of Business Administration graduate; founder of Dryvit Systems, Inc.; past recipient of URI Alumni Excellence Award for Contribution to Business; former chairman of the Sandra Ann Morsilli Pacific-Basin Capital Markets Research Center (PACAP) Advisory Board. Dr. Edward M. Mazze, URI Dean and the Alfred J. Verrecchia – Hasbro, Inc. and Leadership Chair in Business, is proud of this year’s inductees since the five individuals have contributed much to the College and to the world of business and public service. Mazze stated, “The inductees represent the best role models for our students and others interested in a career in industry.” He further stated, “All of the inductees have given back to their communities through their public service activities.” The five inductees were selected by a faculty committee. The Hall of Fame dinner is the signature event of the College, which brings together students, faculty, alumni and friends of the College. When the Hall of Fame was established last year, the College inducted 10 business and government leaders into the Hall of Fame including: Alfred J. Verrecchia, president of Global Operations, Hasbro; Richard J. Harrington, chief executive officer, The Thomson Corporation; Robert L. Crandall, chairman emeritus, AMR Corporation/American Airlines; Russell Hogg, former chief executive officer, MasterCard, International; and Vincent Sarni, former chairman and chief executive officer, PPG Industries.
