WHO: More than 1,200 University of Rhode Island students and URI alumni to compete on more than 200, six-person, mud volleyball teams.

WHAT: URI’s Oozeball Volleyball Tournament. For almost three decades, more than 30,000 students have played in the single-elimination tourney. About 50 student volunteers will run the event. Each member of the winning team will be awarded a medal and a $50 gift card to the bookstore. Called the muddiest tradition on campus, it is sponsored by the Student Alumni Association, and proceeds from the event support the organization’s programming. A DJ will provide music throughout the event.

“I’ve put a lot of work into this event, and I’m excited to see how it is going to turn out. It’s the event everyone looks forward to all year and I hope that everyone is going to have a great time on Sunday and I hope the work by the Student Alumni Association and myself pays off,” said this year’s Director Mike Lawson.

WHEN: Sunday, April 23, 2017, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHERE: URI Kingston Campus, corner of Plains Road and West Alumni Avenue.
