URI women’s hockey team to Pink the Rink

Weekend games to call attention to breast cancer


KINGSTON, R.I. – October 24, 2012 – The University of Rhode Island women’s ice hockey team will not only be battling to score goals this weekend, it will also be battling breast cancer.


For their contests against Vermont, Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m., the Rams will Pink the Rink. In other words, they will fill the Boss Arena with pink to raise awareness and funding for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation and the women’s ice hockey team.


“We will be selling pink T-shirts, lollipops, and raffling off several items,” said coach Beth McCann.


Students and children will be admitted free. Tickets are $5 for adults.
