URI Women’s Council for Development to hold Financial Makeover Nov.5

KINGSTON, R.I. – October 19, 2007 – The University of Rhode Island Women’s Council for Development will hold a “Financial Makeover” for recent alumnae and female juniors and seniors at the University.


The event will be held Monday, Nov. 5 at 5 p.m. in the URI Alumni Center, 73 Upper Upper College Road. There is no charge to attend, but you must RSVP by contacting Jessie Kenyon in the URI Alumni Relations Office at 874-4853 or email her at: jkenyon@advance.uri.edu.


Guest speakers Professor Joan Gray Anderson, director of the Center for Personal Financial Education at URI, and Lisa Ferns, a career advisor at URI Career Services, will offer tips on networking.


In addition, a panel of alumnae professionals will share their expertise in:


• Controlling debt …or better yet, avoid it!

• Insurance…what you need and what you don’t

• Budgeting…as a student and after

• Investing…Retirement, the sooner, the better

Guests will receive a free gift at the end of the evening and have the opportunity to win a Marc Jacobs handbag.
