During the special half-hour program, host Ann Marie Spatharakis asked Beagle a full range of questions. The interview covered details about the student body and costs, some of the leading new programs and approaches being developed, and some of the newest facilities on the Kingston campus. Beagle described the status of the new College of Pharmacy building and in fact thanked the program listeners for their support of the bond referendum this fall to build the new center for chemistry.
In discussing issues related to the retention of students at the University after their freshman year, Beagle also described the new Roger Williams Wellness Center project being developed and how important such facilities are for building campus community, attracting and retaining students.
Beagle also described the importance of President David M. Dooley’s goal to expand the University’s presence in Providence. He shared information about the new Harrington School of Communication and Media and explained the role of URI alumnus Dick Harrington in helping to transform this critical and very popular academic area.
Throughout his 30-year advancement career, Beagle led six multi-million dollar fundraising campaigns and three marketing campaigns, stirred alumni energy and enthusiasm, and is leading the University’s current branding initiative and marketing effort. He oversees the University’s alumni, communication and marketing, publications and creative services, public programming and events operations. He is also a member of the Harrington School of Communication and Media Advisory Council.
