URI to welcome thousands to Homecoming 2013

Rams face Delaware in grid tilt Oct. 26


KINGSTON, R.I — October 10, 2013 – Thousands of students, alumni, and families will Experience Rhody during Homecoming Week 2013. From Thursday, Oct. 24 through Sunday, Oct. 27, celebratory activities range from the traditional football game and Halloween festivities to awards ceremonies and a Newport getaway.


Get a head start on your Rhody Pride by joining the Student Alumni Association Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at Rhody Rally, the annual pep rally, in Keaney Gymnasium. There, you can enjoy performances by student dance teams, That Ram Band, and URI cheerleaders. A homecoming bonfire will immediately follow Rhody Rally outside Keaney Gymnasium.


Join fellow URI alumni and friends for a night of dancing to the World Premier Band, as well as delicious desserts, a selection of spirited coffees, and an open beer and wine bar and fire pit at the Belle Mer’s Island House of Newport, 2 Goat Island, on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. The cost of the event is $40 per person, $35 for dues-paying members and the suggested attire is casual chic.

Rhodyville, the homecoming tent village, will be open Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to noon outside Meade Stadium. Sponsored Rhodyville activities include a barbecue, rock climbing wall, an inflatable bounce house, and many other family fun activities. A new feature this year will be the Alumni Association tent that will offer a cash bar of beer and wine. Register for Rhodyville today! After Rhodyville, head over to Meade Stadium for the big game. The Rams will play the Delaware Blue Hens in the annual homecoming football game. Kickoff is at noon. Discounted tickets at a special rate of $9 in the East stands can be purchased through Rhodyville registration.
