URI to offer degree in professional leadership studies in fall 2020

The program to be offered at URI’s Feinstein College Providence Campus and can be completed full- or part-time

Providence, R.I.,— June 10, 2020 — Beginning in the fall, the University of Rhode Island’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies, at the Feinstein Providence Campus, is offering a new bachelor of science degree in professional leadership studies.

This degree is designed for individuals who want to advance into, or thrive within, administration and leadership roles. It will prepare students with the knowledge and practical skills to effectively lead their institutions and communities with the critical thinking and strategic decision making needed for today’s organizational challenges.

“The economic, environmental, and social challenges of the times require new approaches to the ways we operate and lead our professional organizations,” said R. Anthony Rolle, dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies. “As we move toward shifting these obstacles into opportunities, leaders will need new – and innovative – knowledge-based skillsets designed to better understand current systems; evaluate and execute potential improvements; and, manage both personnel and organizational politics to navigate successful implementations.”

In this program, students will develop sets of practices to solve tough problems, manage diverse projects, learn procedures to enhance leadership skills, and gain the tactical abilities such as budgeting and finance, and technical writing, to excel in all aspects of organizational leadership.

The bachelor of science degree in professional leadership studies is offered through the URI Feinstein College’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies at the Providence Campus on 80 Washington St.
