URI to host speaker on innovation and entrepreneurship, March 27

KINGSTON, R.I. – March 14, 2014 – Ralph Perfetto, co-founder of QualityMetric Inc. and Response Technologies Inc., will discuss his “unanticipated entrepreneurial journey” in a lecture on innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Rhode Island on March 27.

His lecture begins at 3 p.m. in Cherry Auditorium in the Kirk Center for Advanced Technology at the URI Kingston campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Perfetto will share the many lessons he has learned about the key factors that impact success, failure and the direction of one’s professional career, including disruptive innovation, great timing, corporate flexibility, life-long learning and luck.

Perfetto holds three degrees from URI and is currently a senior member of the Patient Insights Division of health care management company Optum, which is now the parent company of QualityMetric. Previously he built Response Technologies into one of Inc. Magazine’s “Top 500 Fastest Growing Private Companies.”

His lecture, sponsored by the URI College of Engineering and the College of Business Administration, is part of the Anthony J. Risica Lecture Series on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which was established in 2003 with a generous gift from Anthony Risica, a URI engineering alumnus.
