URI to host Rhode Island Southern Firefighter’s League training program Saturday, Feb. 1
Rick Lasky, former fire chief and author, to give keynote address
WHO: Rick Lasky, a retired chief with 40 years of service in the fire service; Kingston Fire Chief Nate Barrington, president of the Southern Firefighter’s League, and 150 firefighters from around the region. Lasky served as chief of the Lewisville, Texas, Fire Department for 12 years. Prior to that, he served as chief in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Most recently, he was interim chief for the Trophy Club, Texas, Fire Department. Throughout his career, he has served as a career and volunteer firefighter. He is the author of the best-selling books, “Pride and Ownership–A Firefighter’s Love of the Job,” and “Five Alarm Leadership: From the Firehouse to the Fireground,” published by PennWell Books.
WHAT: Rhode Island Southern Firefighter’s League, Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs’ Foundation and the University of Rhode Island present, “Pride and Ownership in the Fire Service Class.”
WHEN: Saturday, Feb. 1, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lasky will spend the entire day with the firefighters as they engage in education and networking programs.
