URI to host invasive plant management certification program, Jan. 23-24

KINGSTON, R.I. – December 28, 2007 – Landscape professionals and transportation maintenance staff who may work within coastal buffer zones are invited to enroll in an invasive plant management certification program at the University of Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay Campus on Jan. 23-24.


Sponsored by the URI College of the Environment and Life Sciences Outreach Center and the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council, the workshop will include discussion of coastal plant communities, CRMC regulations, site assessments and inventories, control measures, invasive plant disposal and revegetation techniques.


Program leaders represent CRMC, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, the Rhode Island Natural History Survey, and Delaware-based Integrated Vegetation Management Partners, Inc..
