URI Summer Engineering Academy brings high school students together for hands-on science

WHO: More than two dozen high school students from New England and beyond, along with professors and graduate students from the University of Rhode Island’s College of Engineering.


WHAT: The URI Summer Engineering Academy introduces high school students to the various engineering disciplines through hands-on activities using high-tech equipment and facilities. They will design and build machines, robots and a trebuchet.


WHEN: The academy continues through July 25, but the best time for covering the program is July 23 and 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.


WHERE: The Kirk Technology Center computer lab, 90 Upper College Rd., on the URI Kingston campus.
