WHAT: Student Senate’s Seventh Annual Ace of Cakes competition. As part of the group’s commitment to promoting community, diversity and inclusion at the University of Rhode Island, the Student Senate’s Cultural Affairs Committee believes that food and fun are the best ways to achieve that goal. This year’s theme will be centered on diversity. The URI community has more than 100 diverse clubs, all with different mission statements. Each team will have one hour to decorate its cake. The cake, frosting, candy, toppings and materials needed to decorate the cake will be provided for free. A team of judges will decide the winners in the following categories: Best Overall, Best Based on the Theme and Most Creative. Prizes will be awarded to winning teams. At the end of the competition, each team will be able to bring home its finished product.

WHO: Ace of Cakes is a free cake designing competition involving 30 teams made up of members of the URI community; teams must be comprised of two to six members. The event is open to faculty, staff and students.

WHEN: Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019 from 4 to 6 p.m.

WHERE: The Memorial Union Ballroom, 50 Lower College Road, Kingston, R.I. 02881.
