The purpose of our Africa Week Celebration is so as to highlight the Beauty, Majesty and Cultural Diversity of Africa and African Diaspora. This year we also hope to recognize the African Woman; she is Literally the Backbone of the Continent, Especially in Times of Turmoil and Great Upheaval but Her Works and Achievement Often Goes Unnoticed. The 2010 2nd Annual Africa Week is Dedicated to the Prestige of Our African Mothers, Grandmothers and Sisters; Past, Present and Future.

OPEN FORUM: THE AFRICAN BRAIN DRAIN. 5:00 to 7:00PM — URI MULTICULRAL CENTER, COMPUTER LOUNGE. A study claims that about one third of Africa’s professionals have left the continent in recent years. This loss of African intellectual capital has left the continent suffering, as Africa’s brightest are using their talents elsewhere. Come and partake on the discussion on the ‘Brain Drain’ Syndrome as it pertains to Africa: the mass exodus of professionally trained young persons from Africa, which is becoming a serious handicap to the continent.
