URI Student Entertainment Committee to bring comedians Josh Blue and Roz

Last Comic Standing winners to perform on Wednesday, April 11 at 8 p.m.

KINGSTON, R.I – April 5, 2007 – Comedian Josh Blue will take over The University of Rhode Island Kingston campus with his “cerebral campus comedy” tour on Wednesday, April 11 in Edwards Auditorium. Blue and Roz, both contestants of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” competition, will perform their diverse stand- up acts in front of hundreds as the campus celebrates the Student Entertainment Committee’s (SEC) Springfest Week.

Blue, who has cerebral palsy, was selected by millions of viewers as the best comic in America on August 9. Describing his comedy as “spastic and engaging,” Blue wanted to be on “Last Comic Standing” to “make people aware of the fact that people with disabilities can make an impact.” With his incredible sense of humor and ability to make fun of himself, he has captivated crowds across the country.

In a male dominated career, Roz G has soared to the top to become one of the funniest African-American women in the business. With 10 years experience as a motivational speaker on women’s issues, Roz is no stranger to large audiences and has turned her experiences into pure comedy all audiences enjoy.

“We are really excited to bring Josh Blue and Roz to URI since it’s such a fun and diverse event for the campus,” says Jennifer Baker, President of SEC’s Special Events Committee. “We’ve heard many great reviews about them and we think it’s a great opportunity for the URI campus and anyone in the neighboring communities to come and enjoy a great night of comedy.”

The comedy show will be held in Edwards Auditorium at the URI Kingston campus on April 11 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $6 for students, $12 for public and can be purchased at the URI Memorial Union Box Office or at Ticketmaster.com.
