URI, state officials launch Rhode to Health Integrated Health mobile unit

WHO: R.I. Department of Health Director Nicole Alexander Scott, R.I. Executive Office of Health and Human Services Acting Secretary Lisa Vura-Weis, and the agency’s Medicaid Administrator Paul Loberti; URI Provost Donald H. DeHayes, URI Academic Health Collaborative deans, faculty and students.

WHAT: URI Rhode to Health Integrated Health Mobile Unit ribbon-cutting. URI and its state health-care partners will introduce the URI Rhode to Health Integrated Health Mobile Unit, which will bring care to underserved populations and will be staffed by faculty and students from URI’s Academic Health Collaborative. The state’s first mobile medical unit initiative is part of the HIV COEXIST project, which provides HIV early identification, education, general health testing and integrated behavioral health treatment services with an extensive outreach component to vulnerable populations that do not have easy access to care.

A brief speaking program will be followed by student-led tours of the mobile unit.

WHEN: Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

WHERE: Robert J. Higgins Welcome Center, 45 Upper College Road, Kingston Campus. Parking in Lot 1 (Briar Lane), directly behind Welcome Center
