URI retains attorney to assist with Institute for International Sport matters

KINGSTON, R.I. – May 31, 2012 – The University of Rhode Island has retained Providence attorney John A. (“Terry”) MacFadyen to represent the University’s interests regarding legal work associated with the Institute for International Sport (IIS).

As announced last month by President David M. Dooley, MacFadyen will assist URI’s current staff attorney with work associated with the IIS matter. The University has not been informed of any legal action against the institution or its employees, but “this step is nevertheless necessary in order to protect the interests of the institution,” Dooley said.

MacFadyen, who has been litigating in state and federal courts for more than 30 years, will manage, coordinate and provide legal guidance to the University on IIS matters.
