URI professor: R.I.’s economy remains ‘abysmal’

WHAT: Rhode Island’s economic performance in December was much the same as it had been throughout all of 2008—abysmal. While the value of the Current Conditions Index was 8 again, based on only one indicator improving, the declining pace of economic activity here, as with the nation, was highly significant.
