July 19 & Aug. 16 in Jamestown

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. – July 11, 2008 — Join University of Rhode Island Marine Outreach Scientists on a summer day at low tide for a two-hour beachcombing program at Jamestown’s Fort Getty, one of Rhode Island’s unique coastal beaches.

The beachcombing programs will be held on Saturday July 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. and Saturday, August 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

The program gives children a special chance to have their questions answered about the plants, animals, and minerals found on the beach.

Pre-registration is required. To register, please call the Office of Marine Programs at 874-6211. Groups meet at the Fort Getty beach pavilion. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
