KINGSTON, R.I. – November 18, 2011 – Chad Straight, who earned a master of science degree in kinesiology in May from the University of Rhode Island, received the Mark Connolly Memorial Master’s Scholarship Award.

The $500 scholarship is awarded to a standout master’s student studying exercise science or sports medicine in an accredited college or university within the New England Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine. The recipient is determined based on academic excellence, work experience, and professional activities.

Straight, a Narragansett, R.I. native, is pursuing a doctorate in exercise science at the University of Georgia.

The award is named after the late Mark Connolly, who earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from URI in the 1980s.
