URI initiates 28 into Phi Beta Kappa honor society

KINGSTON, R.I. — May 15, 2001 — The University of Rhode Island chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the national liberal arts honor society, initiated 28 students during ceremonies recently. Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest and most respected undergraduate honors organization in the United States. The Society has pursued its mission of fostering and recognizing excellence in the liberal arts and sciences since 1776. The URI Beta chapter was established in 1977.
