URI hosts R.I. Nursery and Landscape Association winter meeting and trade show, Jan. 16-17

WHO: Senator Jack Reed, RINLA Executive Director Shannon Brawley, URI plant sciences faculty and students, and professional landscapers, horticulturalists and others in the green industries.


WHAT: The annual winter meeting and trade show for the Rhode Island Nursery and Landscape Association will feature presentations designed to educate students and professionals interested in learning the latest strategies for pest management, protecting trees in storms, small business management, and other useful information. Senator Jack Reed is among the speakers. University of Maine Professor George Jacobson will discuss the likely impact of climate change on the green industries. Several awards will also be presented, including the Young Nursery Person of the Year award.


WHEN: Thursday, January 16 from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, January 17 from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Senator Reed will speak Friday at 10:30, the climate change talk is Thursday at 10:45, and the awards ceremony is Thursday at noon.


WHERE: The University of Rhode Island’s Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences, 120 Flagg Rd., Kingston.
