URI Great Performances to put you In a Spanish Mood

KINGSTON, R.I. –March 26, 2008—Back by popular demand and in collaboration, two Rhode Islanders, Arlene Kies, piano, and Brian Jones, tap dancer will be presented by the University of Rhode Island’s Great Performances Friday, April 4 at 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall, 105 Upper College Road, Kingston.

This spectacular event, curated especially for Great Performances, has this duo sharing the stage with solo piano, piano and tap and tap solos all “In a Spanish Mood.”


On this rare occasion the audience will be treated to music by Granados, Lecuona, Cervantes, AlbenizVilla-Lobos, Hernandez, and Ernesto Nazareth. The richness of color and variety of rhythms that this program affords are incredible.


The performance is sponsored, in part, by grants from the New England Foundation for the Arts and the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. Tickets are $15 general admission, $12 seniors and $5 students. Tickets may be purchased by calling 401-874-2627 or one hour prior to the performance at the box office.
