NARRAGANSETT, R.I. – June 12, 2013 – Families interested in learning more about the creatures living in the coastal environment are invited to join marine outreach scientists from the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography on a summer day at low tide for two-hour beach investigations.

Participants will explore the shoreline of Fort Getty in Jamestown, one of Rhode Island’s unique coastal beaches. The program gives young people an opportunity to have their questions answered about the plants, animals, and minerals found on the beach.

The dates for beachcombing are: Saturday July 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
