URI economist to discuss employee-based solutions to economic crisis

WHO: Richard McIntyre, University of Rhode Island professor of economics, director of URI Honors Program and author of the 2008 book, Are Worker Rights Human Rights?


WHAT: McIntyre will discuss “The Economic Crisis, the Policy Response, and Opportunities for Organizing.” He will address the following:

• Are decades of regressive economic policies to blame for the current economic crisis?

• Does the policy response to the crisis adequately address the conditions that caused it?

• Can the Employee-Free Choice Act reverse the decades-long trend of wage stagnation in the United States?
