KINGSTON, R.I. — November 20, 2003 — The University of Rhode Island’s College of Engineering is seeking nominations for its Engineering Hall of Fame, Founders Club, and Engineering Entrepreneur Award. The awards will be presented at the annual Engineering Awards Banquet, which is scheduled for April 23, 2004.

All nominees must have received a college degree from an accredited engineering program.

The Hall of Fame was created to recognize distinguished engineers who have achieved exemplary stature in the profession or business of engineering. Priority for membership is given to alumni of the URI College of Engineering, however, all accomplished engineers will be given consideration.

The Engineering Founders Club was established to recognize engineers who started or were a major partner in starting a new business.

The Engineering Entrepreneur Award was established to recognize engineers who have achieved an exemplary stature in achieving patents, copyrights, inventions, or leadership in the profession of engineering.

The primary consideration used by the selection committee is the distinction the nominees have achieved during their career or through their contribution to engineering organizations. There are currently 35 members of the Engineering Hall of Fame, 36 members of the Founders Club, and three Engineering Entrepreneurs.

Nominations should be submitted along with supporting materials by Dec 15, 2003 to the University of Rhode Island, College of Engineering, Office of the Dean, 1 Lippitt Road, Kingston, RI 02881. Submission may also be made by e-mail to dean@egr.uri.edu or by fax at 401-782-1066.
