URI announces spring Career Services events

KINGSTON, R.I. – March 5, 2012 – With just a couple of months left in the semester, University of Rhode Island students and soon-to-be-graduates are searching for summer internships and full-time employment. URI Career Services will hold a series of job fairs and conferences throughout the semester to help them.

The event schedule is:

March 7, the Summer Internship & Job Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Memorial Union Ballroom at the Kingston campus. Representatives from camps, non-profit organizations, and other companies from throughout the region will come to the fair looking for full- and part-time employees in all disciplines.

March 20, the Rhode Island Consortium for Educators Career Conference will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, R.I. All Rhode Island schools with teacher education programs may attend this conference to discuss career options and prepare students for challenges in seeking a career in education.

April 4, the Spring Career & Job Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ryan Center at the Kingston campus. This annual event typically draws more than 80 companies. The primary focus of this event is full-time employment, but students and alumni can also find internships and part-time opportunities. Several Graduate schools will also attend the job fair.

Students can register on the RhodyNet website to receive a printed name badge and submit resumes online before each of the events. Professional dress is recommended for all events.

As always, in addition to these specialized events, Career Services will hold on-campus interviews with companies. About 50 to 150 new job listings are activated on the RhodyNet website every week, said Audrey Tessier, employer relations manager of Career Services.
