URI alumni wind ensemble to perform, Jan 15

KINGSTON, R.I. – January 3, 2012 – University of Rhode Island Department of Music graduates and other alumni who played in various URI band ensembles will gather on Sunday, Jan. 15, to present what has become a new URI tradition – an alumni concert. Free and open to the public, the URI Alumni Wind Ensemble performance will be held at 3 p.m., in the URI Fine Arts Center Concert Hall, at 105 Upper College Road, Kingston. Seating is on a first-come basis starting 45 minutes before the concert.


The concert program will feature Suite Francaise by Darius Milhaud, Hammersmith by Gustav Holst, Five Variants on “Dives and Lazarus” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Folk Dances by Shostakovich. URI’s Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands Brian Cardany, who initiated the alumni concert will conduct.


The URI Concert Hall is handicap-accessible, and parking is available in the lot behind the Fine Arts Center, off of Bills Road.
