URI Alumni Association seeking nominees for Excellence Awards

KINGSTON, R.I.-September 10, 1999 — The University of Rhode Island Alumni Association is seeking nominees for its Excellence Awards for the year 2000. While the committee selecting the award recipients is representative of the University community, you may be in a unique position to know alumni who deserve this honor, but who are unknown to committee members. Excellence awards are given to alumni who have demonstrated distinction in one of the following areas: arts, business, community service, education, professional achievement, research and science and technology. The awards will be presented during Alumni Weekend next June. The Association is asking those responding to submit the name of the nominee, graduation class year, address, field of achievement, as well as the name of the person making recommendation, address and phone number. Please make 20 copies of the information and mail to Awards Committee, c/o Christopher Barnett ’78, chair URI Alumni Association, 12 Davis Hall, 10 Lippitt Road, Kingston, RI, 02881-2011. Please attach additional and substantial supporting documentation, resume and/or news clippings, etc., that will help the committee with its decision. -xxx- For Further Information: Dave Lavallee 401-874-2116
