University of Rhode Island holds first of two hazardous materials training drills today, April 15 on Kingston campus

Second, larger drill set for April 29

WHAT:            The University of Rhode Island will hold the first of two Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response training drills on the Kingston campus. No hazardous materials will be used in the drills, but the exercise areas may be cordoned off by yellow caution tape. Students and instructors will be dressed in a variety of chemical suits, wearing respirators and utilizing props such as hazardous waste drums to simulate an emergency event. Emergency vehicles will be parked close by.

WHO:              Students in GEO 587: Environmental Hazards, Risks, Response and Safety along with their instructors.

WHEN:            Today, April 15, 2019
                            4:45 – 8 p.m. 

Note: This is the first of two drills. A second, larger drill will be held April 29 on the Kingston campus.
