Two URI honor students to host 5K fundraiser for cancer research

KINGSTON, R.I. – April 10, 2013 – Two University of Rhode Island students will host Rhody’s Run 5K on April 13 on the Kingston campus to benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. Students and other community members are welcome to run or walk in the laid-back road race, which will begin at noon on the main quadrangle.


Mark Albanese, a senior accounting major from Montvale, N.J., and Bryan Poston, a junior finance major from Charlestown, R.I., are hosting the event as their final project in URI’s honors program.


Participants can register in advance online at www.rundanafarber.org/2013/uri5k, or in-person on the day of the race. Online registration costs $10 and race day registration costs $15. Please arrive by 11:30 a.m. to check in and sign an injury waiver.


T-shirts will be available for $10 at the event while supplies last. There will also be a raffle to win a variety of prizes, including gift certificates to businesses such as RoadID and Camire’s Athletic Soles, among others.
