APRIL 26, 2010, PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND: Rhode Island’s three public institutions of higher education will showcase their students, programs, activities and accomplishments at the State House in Providence on Tuesday, April 27th in celebration of “Public Higher Education Day.”

The University of Rhode Island, Rhode Island College and the Community College of Rhode Island will be represented with tables and displays ringing the second floor rotunda area of the building. The exhibits and displays will be staffed by students and representatives of each institution from 2-4 p.m.

Among the displays will be several related to the allied health programs at each institution where legislators and State House staff can get their blood pressure checked and participate in a variety of screenings. Other spotlights include exhibits by the pharmacy program at URI and the performing arts at all three institutions. Students from URI will sing the National Anthem before the start of the legislative session in the State Senate at 4:00 p.m. and students from CCRI will do the same in the House.

The purpose of the exhibits and the focus on public higher education is to provide members of the Legislature, State General Officers, their respective staffs and all who work in the State House with a better understanding of the programs, activities and achievements of Rhode Island’s three public institutions of higher learning.

The general public is also invited to attend.
