Top URI Freshman honored as University College Scholars

KINGSTON, R.I. – November 6, 2008 – The top University of Rhode Island students of the 2007-08 freshman class were chosen to be formally inducted as the University College Scholars.


These students received a certificate of achievement and a $500 check from the URI Alumni Association in recognition of their success.


To be considered as a University College Scholar, students must have a grade point average that exceeds 3.97 out of a possible 4.0 in their freshman year. Then, of 40 candidates, the students compete for the award based on the contributions they have made outside of the classroom to the community or to their future profession.
