Scholarships available at URI’s Feinstein College of Continuing Education

PROVIDENCE, R.I.– November 30, 1998 — Are you an adult learner who has always had a hankering to attend college? Like helping your community? Here’s an opportunity to do both without putting a dent in the family budget. Through the support of Alan Shawn Feinstein, URI’s Feinstein College of Continuing Education is offering scholarships to new and returning students in the name of his mother, Lillian Feinstein and in memory of individuals whose lives have been tragically cut short. In honor of the passing of Lillian Feinstein on November 15, eighteen of these scholarships are now being offered for the coming spring semester. Any person may apply for consideration of a scholarship. Those selected for scholarships must agree to perform 30 hours of community service that is required of all Feinstein scholarship recipients. New students will be required to take a four-credit undergraduate starter course. A committee will review the applications and award the scholarships. The application deadline is December 18. For an application, call Zena Fernandes at 277-5162. -xxx- For More Information: Jan Sawyer, 874-2116
