Rhode Island accessory sensation Alex and Ani to visit to URI

Eco-friendly fashion company to share strategies for creating a brand

KINGSTON, R.I. –April 12, 2012 – Alex and Ani, the Providence Business News winner of the “Excellence at a Mid-Size Company” award, will visit the University of Rhode Island Wednesday, April 25.

Since its founding in 2004, the jewelry company has experienced tremendous growth and popularity. The presentation, Alex and Ani – The Power of Positive Energy, will be held at 3 p.m. in the Alumni Center, 73 Upper College Road, Kingston. The presentation, free and open to the public, is part of URI’s Public Relations Summit series.

URI 2006 alumna Iris Carlomusto, director of marketing, and Rachel Rafaelian, head designer of the company’s Vintage 66, will share the success strategies utilized to become a national jewelry sensation.

URI student and faculty members expressed their excitement for the highly anticipated presentation. Renee Hobbs, founding director of the URI Harrington School of Communication & Media explains: “It’s important for students to learn the logistics behind creating a successful brand. In today’s competitive job market, creating the right image is imperative.”

Marketing director Carlomusto hopes the visit will inspire young students to always set high standards for themselves. “We originated as a small company with big aspirations, and because of that, feel a close connection to URI’s school slogan ‘Think Big, We Do,’ she said.
