Registered Nurses earn bachelor’s degrees from URI

Graduates are from Care New England Programs

KINGSTON, R.I.– January 14, 2016– Forty-two registered nurses earned their bachelor of science degrees from the University of Rhode Island and its joint program with Care New England last month.

The nurses work at Visiting Nurse Association of Care New England, Butler Hospital, Kent Hospital, Memorial Hospital, and Women & Infants Hospital.

The registered nurse to bachelor of science program is designed for registered nurses with an associate degree or diploma in nursing. The accelerated program recognizes the academic credits from the student’s basic program and the demands on working nurses. The program is offered both on-campus and online.

Diane Martins, URI associate professor of nursing, was the speaker at the graduation and offered encouraging words about the rewards of being a nurse even through challenging times. She said the URI-Care New England program is a team effort.

“This RN to BS program was developed by me in my role as the RN to BS coordinator, administrators in the College of Nursing and College of Continuing Education Special Programs coordinators, John O’ Leary and Christine Dolan,” Martins said.

The following is a list of graduates and their agencies/hospitals.
