Reporters covering stories about the red tide that is moving into southern New England can call on experts from the University of Rhode Island to provide insight on several angles to the story.

Marine scientists are available to discuss the biology of the marine organisms responsible for red tides, as well as the ecological conditions that lead to the spread of red tides.

Fisheries experts can discuss the impact of red tides on shellfish, and they can also provide insight on the economic impact the red tides may have if the area’s shellfish beds must be closed.
