Questions women need to ask their gynecologists, April 7

Topic of URI’s annual lecture on women and health, April 7

KINGSTON, R.I. –March 31, 2011 –Carolyn Howard, a physician in the University of Rhode Island’s Health Services, will speak Thursday, April 7 at 7 p.m. Her talk, “Own Your Reproductive Health: What You Should Know and the Questions You Need to Ask When Visiting the Gynecologist” will be held in the Agnes G. Doody Auditorium in Swan Hall, 60 Upper College Road, Kingston. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Dr. Howard will be addressing the reproductive health of women throughout the life cycle, emphasizing how choices we make during different times in our lives affect long-term wellness.

“The talk will also be particularly interesting for college students since Dr. Howard, who is a gynecologist, will be discussing the many issues and matters about which, as she has discovered, students are not informed but need to know,” says Jody Lisberger, director of Women Studies at URI, which sponsors the annual Fredrika Wild Schweers Lecture on Women and Health.

There will be a question and answer period following her talk.
