Park is a professor from the Department of Photographic Art at Sunchon National University, South Korea. She received her bachelor’s of fine arts in photography and her master’s of fine arts in mass communication from Chung-ang University in Seoul, Korea. She also received an MFA in visual communication at Essen University in Germany.
She was a visiting professor at the School of Art , University of Oklahoma in 2003-04, and has been a visiting professor Art Center Boda in Soeul, “The Uncanny and the Familiar” at the Center for French Culture in Korea and “Silence and Sound” at the Obs Gallery, Kwang-ju, Korea.
Park’s work reflects her life in Korea as well as her experiences in this country and Europe. She describes our lives as existing in a chaotic space in time, creating instability, loneliness and uneasiness. Although she finds her subject matter in the familiar, she has expanded her imagery into the realms of dreams and imagination, “where objects of the mundane world open glimpses into ineffable realities.”
