Nov. 18 talk at URI by Syrian-American activist Nora Barré canceled

KINGSTON, R.I., Nov. 12, 2015 – Due to scheduling conflicts, a talk Wednesday, Nov. 18 at the University of Rhode Island by Syrian-American activist Nora Barré has been canceled. Barré was scheduled to speak as part of URI’s International Education Week. Singer Dylan Connor, who had been expected to team up with Barré, also will not appear.

Barré gained notoriety after an exchange with Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush at a recent campaign stop in New Hampshire. Barré told Bush how her family fled the war-torn country and asked him whether he would help refugees if elected. The encounter went viral.
