The festivals, which are free and open to the public, will be held in the music wing of the URI Fine Arts Center at 105 Upper College Road, Kingston. URI Voice Faculty member Mark Conley is the coordinator for all three festivals.
The first festival is the RIMEA Senior High School Choral Festival, which will be held on Thursday, April 7 and Friday, April 8, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Because the popular TV show is set in a high school, Conley says, “Think of this two-day adjudication of high school choral groups in performance as the REAL “Glee.”
On Monday and Tuesday, April 11-12, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m, the RIMEA Middle School Choral Festival will be held. Conley calls it “kind of a medium-level real-life “Glee.”
Finally, on Tuesday, May 10 and Wednesday, May 11, 8 a.m.-5 p.m, area elementary school choral groups will compete in this two-day adjudication of performances –kind of like “Glee-to-be,” Conley quips.
