WHO: Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, URI President David Dooley, R.I. Economic Development Corp. Director Marcel Valois, URI Oceanography Dean Bruce Corliss, Naval Undersea Warfare Center Chief Technology Officer Pierre Corriveau, retired U.S. Navy Program Executive Officer Richard McNamara, URI Business Engagement Center Director Katharine Flynn, numerous URI researchers, and representatives of the defense and marine trade industries.


WHAT: “Innovation in Oceanography, Ocean Engineering, Defense and Marine Trades,” a day-long event designed to bring together defense and marine industry representatives and URI oceanography and ocean engineering researchers to demonstrate potential industry applications and establish partnerships.

Organized by the URI Business Engagement Center and sponsored by the van Beuren Charitable Foundation, the event includes numerous short presentations and tours of URI oceanographic facilities. Participants include representatives of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance, Rhode Island Marine Trades Association, and state and federal stakeholders.


WHEN: Monday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.


WHERE: The Coastal Institute on the URI Bay Campus, South Ferry Road, Narragansett.
