KINGSTON, R. I.-November 24, 1998 — Professionals who work with students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder will want to attend Dr. Gary Stoner’s talk “Improving School-based Services for Students With Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.” Stoner will speak at the University of Rhode Island on Friday, December 4 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Galanti Lounge, located on the third floor of the URI Library in Kingston. A reception will follow. The lecture is free and open to professionals such as school psychologists, social workers, and teachers. Stoner is the co-author of the book, “ADHD in the Schools: Assessment and Intervention Strategies,” published by Guilford and co-editor of the book “Interventions for Achievement and Behavior Problems,” published by the National Association of School Psychologists. An associate professor and director of the School Psychology Program in the School of Education at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Stoner earned his doctorate in school psychology from the University of Rhode Island in 1986, after which he completed a one-year postdoctoral fellowship in applied behavior analysis, developmental disabilities, and behavioral pediatrics at the Kennedy Institute for Handicapped Children/John Hopkins University School of Medicine. He served as a faculty member in the psychology program at the University of Oregon from 1987 through 1996.
