‘Owning the Edge’ the topic of


KINGSTON, R.I. – November 13, 2008 – The University of Rhode Island’s Landscape Architecture Lecture Series continues on Nov. 20 with a presentation by Lucinda Sanders, CEO of OLIN Partnership, Philadelphia, on “Owning the Edge.”


Her talk begins at 7 p.m. in Weaver Auditorium in the Coastal Institute building on the URI Kingston campus. It is free and open to the public.


Sanders’s landscape architectural projects range from urban design to public parks and urban plazas, from institutional to academic and corporate. Among them are the Presidio Main Parade in San Francisco, Fountain Square in Cincinnati, the Comcast Center Plaza in Philadelphia, and the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City. Her projects have won national awards from the American Society of Landscape Architects and the American Institute of Architects. She is also an adjunct professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Design where she teaches graduate design studios.


OLIN was the recipient of a Smithsonian Institution 2008 Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award. The award was bestowed for “creating timeless places that enhance life and promote social interaction among diverse members of communities.” OLIN was also recognized for being an early proponent of sustainability and green design.
