KINGSTON, R.I.- March 25, 2008- A retired supervisor of the state Department of Health’s Forensic Science Laboratories and an adjunct professor at Roger Williams University will discuss, “ Street Drugs and the Forensic Drug Lab” on Friday, Mar. 28 at the University of Rhode Island’s Forensic Science Seminar.

Professor Gino Rebussini’s lecture will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Pastore Hall, 51 Lower College Road, Room 124 and is free and open to public.

When he served as Supervisor of the Forensic Drug Laboratory, Rebusinni’s responsibilities included testifying in the various family, district, superior, and federal courts in Rhode Island about 600 times. He retired after 31 years. Rebussini is presently involved in developing a forensic science curriculum for numerous public and private high schools throughout Rhode Island.

Rebussini will discuss his experiences including investigation of the misuse of controlled substances and the use of illegal substances. While working in the laboratory, Rebussini worked on a variety of street drugs including: marijuana, crack cocaine, pills, LSD and “ magic mushrooms.” In the laboratory he also tested pills, powders, potions, drug residue, syringes, drug paraphernalia and botanicals.
