Earth Day Celebration at URI, April 22

KINGSTON, R.I. — April 16, 2010 — The University of Rhode Island’s Student Action for Sustainability group is hosting an Earth Day Festival on Thursday, April 22 on the Kingston Campus quad. Free and open to the public, the event will be from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. If it rains, the event will be held in the Memorial Union Ballroom.

The day’s events will end with a FREE showing of the award-winning film, AVATAR, at 7 p.m. in Edwards Auditorium.

URI’s Earth Day will feature workshops, carnival-inspired games with a green twist, live acoustic music, sustainable vendors and employers, locally produced food and products, and more.

Engage in conversations about sustainability, learn what URI is doing to curb climate change and reduce its ecological footprint, learn about environmental issues, and just have fun outside on a beautiful spring day.
